Hoping you will be able to view the short video clip. Love how… if you focus on the tiny instants ‘just BEFORE’ the swan becomes visually defined, and you begin to realize what’s making the sound… that’s when not-knowing dominates perception, noticing the gradual revealing of the ‘undefined’ rhythmic sound, which is barely noticeable… this is something like how perception unfolds. It is lightning fast, and is a precursor of everything that reveals to body and mind including thoughts that eventually become stories, judgments and conclusions. This ‘process’ from not-knowing to knowing… how wonder transforms to wonderful, how inquiry reveals understanding… it is going on continuously… you can simply dwell in this continual ‘revealing‘, just as each instant unfolds, ‘just before‘ solidifying and passing away… There is a delightful openness, prior to the structuring, and the entire display is just shimmering appearance…

In the Monday – TSK Study Group, we are discussing Rinpoche’s book ‘Knowledge of Time and Space’, [Chapter 102 –  Awakening to Great Knowledge, p. 456, emphasis added] Rinpoche writes:

The ‘giving point’ of time can equally yield self-exploration or self-exploitation. Ways of thinking or acting combine with the attitudes of the subjective mind, relying on faculties that emerge from forms inaugurated by the rhythm of successive images… The Body of Knowledge remains unknown, and thus unknowing, because its knowledge does not belong to the self. To embody the Body of Knowledge, we must cut through this limitation, touching with awareness the heart of Being. We begin to do this when we pursue inquiry beyond all limits and within all structures. Then we learn that knowledge is not a guest that has to be invited; it is already in residence.

Once again, I am reminded of the practice in Rinpoche’s book,  ‘Gesture of Great Love’, … Exercise 23 – Welcoming Each New Arising. p. 111. These ‘edge of the future‘ practices ARE inquiry, they may well open to The ‘giving point’ of time.

Inquiry as Great Knowledge allows the Body of Knowledge to become the Body of Time, gaining intimacy with Time by embracing it in the instant. In each emerging instant there is a merging with the momentum of Time, so that the many presentations of time merge into the one Body of Knowledge. All-embracing Knowledge incorporates all rhythm into one point, pointing toward the one Body—the whole.

Here’s a link to a discussion thread on this forum entitled: ‘Recognizing & Dwelling in ‘Knowingness. It also points to this  ‘giving point’ of time:  https://discussions.creativeinquiry.org/forums/topic/recognizing-dwelling-in-knowingness/
