SPACE-INSTANT…
An unbounded moment… instant center of the universe… what could you possibly say to contain it… to hold it… to savor, honor, or treasure the experience? It is NOT a snapshot, a freeze frame lifeless object… it is a living, precious space-instant arising like a gentle breeze… felt, luxuriated in and allowed to pass as the joyful fragrance of knowing…
SWITCHED OUT
by Ken McKeon
Scotched no longer,
Not flattened into folds,
Not checked by chains,
I’m all aloft, I’m freed in
The skim above, the breeze soar,
What’s earth to me now?
Only the down below,
But say I fell with the golden rays
All the way to the wet, the granular,
To dwell there as a tugging worm
Or as a swaying, easily toppled snail,
I might find myself lowly
And as deeply wonderful as dew,
Chill, blind, and moving along
Slowly on my drenched and sticky tongue like foot,
Earth to me would be a grinding thuggish way,
I’d be happy there,
And I wouldn’t need a word to tell me so,
But if I were somehow toppled over,
And if within my fall I looked above,
If it were at the dawning of a golden day,
I well might scan up
A green accelerating stem
Into a blessed ivoried golden tulip sky,
I well might find myself alive in canticles of light,
I would think to laugh,
But I would find myself in prayer, in ringing notes,
And that would suffice,
For it would be my most perfect, my most radiant ever, air.
